PETALING JAYA: A total of 115 individuals were arrested for various violations under the recovery movement control order (RMCO) yesterday.
Of this number, 111 were issued compounds while four were remanded.
Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said among the offences committed were lack of social distancing (35) and breaching the enhanced movement control order (31).
“Other offences include failure to provide equipment or facilities for check-in purposes (17), premises operating without authorisation (five), and not wearing a face-mask (one),” he said in a statement today.
A further 26 were arrested for possessing expired travel documents.
The arrests were part of the 53,695 inspections carried out by the police’s Compliance Operations Task Force yesterday on premises including supermarkets, transport terminals, government offices, banks, restaurants and hawker centres.
Ismail Sabri said that Ops Benteng, under the National Task Force involving the police, army, maritime enforcement agency and the border control agency, yesterday arrested 67 illegal immigrants.
“Meanwhile, 98 roadblocks were also conducted nationwide in order to curb the entry of illegal immigrants,” he said.
Ismail Sabri also announced that between July 24 and yesterday, a total of 35,116 individuals had returned to Malaysia through international borders.
“Of the total, 7,903 are undergoing mandatory quarantine while 103 individuals have been sent to hospitals for treatment. A total of 27,110 have been discharged and allowed to go home,” he added.
