129 individuals arrested for violating RMCO

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested 129 individuals for flouting standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

“From that number, 20 are remanded while 109 people are issued compounds,“ said Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix) in a press statement today.

Among the violations include pub/nightclub activities (21), failure to prepare tools and notes for entry and exit (55), failure to wear gloves while cutting hair for a customer (1), not wearing face masks (21), and activities involving crowds which made social distancing difficult (31).

He also said as many as 11,236 people have returned from overseas from July 24 to Aug 14, and have been placed at 60 hotels and 5 public learning institutes in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Johor, Sarawak, Kelantan, Perak, Perlis, Kedah, and Labuan.

“They have returned from 31 countries which are the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, India, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Turkey, South Korea, Iran, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Timor Leste, Taiwan, China, United Kingdom, Holland, Papua New Guinea, Egypt, Spain, France, Australia and New Zealand,“ he said.

He also said from that number, 44 individuals have been sent to the hospitals for further treatment, while 2,992 were discharged from the quarantine centres and allowed to go home.

Ismail Sabri also said the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) has conducted checks at 74 construction sites in the whole of Malaysia with 52 enforcement officers.

“From that number, checks have shown that 73 construction sites abide by the standard operating procedure (SOP), while one site did not and has been issued warning,“ he said.
