140 individuals arrested for violating MCO

PETALING JAYA: The police have arrested a total number of 140 individuals for violating the Movement Control Order (MCO).

“From this number, 32 individuals were remanded and 108 individuals were issued compound for being involved in activity of many people which made social distancing difficult,“ said Senior Minister (Defense) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob in a press statement today.

Besides that, Ismail Sabri said as many as 7175 individuals have flown back from overseas from 24 July to 6 August and have been placed at 30 hotels and 5 public learning institute in Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Kelantan, Sarawak, Selangor Johor, Perlis, Kedah and Perak.

“From that number, 20 individuals have been sent to the hospital for treatment,“ he said.

They have returned from 30 countries which are the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam, Brunei, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, India, United Arab Emirates, Japan, Turkey, South Korea, Iran, Nepal, Myanmar, Timor Leste, Bangladesh, Taiwan, China, United Kingdom, Holland, Papua New Guinea, Egypt, Spain, France and Australia.

He also said the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) has conducted checks on 21 construction sites at all of Malaysia which involves 62 enforcement officers.

“From that number, all 21 construction sites have abide by SOP,“ he said.
