PETALING JAYA: A total of 101 individuals were arrested for violating the recovery movement control order (RMCO) yesterday.
Of this number, 86 were issued compounds while 15 were remanded.
Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix) said among the offences committed were not wearing face masks (23) and breaching enhanced movement control orders (24).
“Other offences committed included lack of social distancing (19) failure to provide equipment or facilities for check-in purposes (13), pub and nightclub activities (six) and premises operating after hours (three).
“Ten illegal immigrants were also arrested,” he said in a statement today.
The arrests were part of the 56,758 inspections carried out by the police’s Compliance Operations Task Force yesterday.
Ismail Sabri said that Ops Benteng, under the National Task Force involving the police, army, maritime enforcement agency, and the border control agency, yesterday made 93 arrests.
“The arrests included four boat captains, one suspected smuggler and 88 illegal immigrants. Eight land vehicles were also seized.
“Meanwhile, 82 roadblocks were also conducted nationwide in order to curb the entry of illegal immigrants,” he said.
Ismail Sabri also announced that between July 24 and yesterday, a total of 30,314 individuals had returned to Malaysia through international borders.
“Of the total, 9,350 are undergoing mandatory quarantine while 71 individuals have been sent to hospitals for treatment. A total of 20,893 have been discharged and allowed to go home,” he added.
He also said that eight sanitation operations were carried out yesterday, covering two red zones, one yellow zone and four green zones in Sabah, Sarawak, Pahang, Kedah and Malacca.
