Adham Baba should explain why police questioned contract doctors: MP

KUALA LUMPUR: Contract doctors have come under spotlight in Parliament again after Fahmi Fadzil(pix) (PKR-Lembah Pantai) said those who participated in the #HartalDoktorKontrak strike were questioned by the police .

This is despite the assurance by Health Minister Datuk Seri Adham Baba that disciplinary action will not be taken against them.

Fahmi requested Dewan Rakyat Speaker to let Adham Baba to answer on the action taken by the police.

A lawyer representing these medical frontliner, Asheeq Ali tweeted at 5.13 am today that the police had interrogated 12 doctors who participated in the strike which started at 11.45 pm last night and ended at 3.50 am.

He then tweeted that the the investigation was initiated after someone from the Ministry of Health (MoH) has lodged a police report.

“They are being questioned after they claimed that several media personnel showed up uninvited to provide coverage on the strike,“ he said.

“Regardless, taking statements in the wee hour for four hours when they were on duty to save the country, is an act of intimidation. IT IS COMPLETELY UNCALLED FOR!” he tweeted.

“They are DOCTORS, not CRIMINALS!.

“@MyHEALTHKKM should not have allowed this to happen. Taking statements at wee hours when the Doctors are on duty is completely unacceptable. They are already overworked and exhausted, and you can still allow this? Shame!,” he tweeted.
