Azmin dismisses old video showing support for Shafie

KOTA KINABALU: Perikatan Nasional (PN) information chief Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali (pix) has strongly denied to have pledged his support to Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal and Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan).

He said certain quarters were circulating an old video of his speech made during the Kimanis by-election campaign in January this year when Warisan was still an ally of the then Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) government.

“Certainly (during the by-election) I was in Kimanis to support Warisan candidate and to support the party and the leadership of Shafie Apdal.

“I strongly deny that the viral video was made recently because it was actually recorded during the Kimanis by-election,” he told reporters when campaigning for PN candidate in Kg Ketiau in Putatan near here today.

He said the old video which was made viral just several hours before the polling for the state election tomorrow, proved that Warisan was in a desperate situation to gain support.

“Despite the viral video, PN is receiving overwhelming support from the people across the state...I have been here in Sabah over the last two weeks.

“I was in Tawau and Kalabakan yesterday and I just came back to Kota Kinabalu this morning...I can feel the support is overwhelming for PN and our allies, Barisan Nasional and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS),” he said.

Meanwhile, in a statement, Azmin called on all voters in the state to give their mandate to the candidates from PN, BN and PBS when they go to the polls tomorrow.

“I’m sure the Sabah people have been longing for a state government that is stable and has good relations with the federal government. This is important to ensure the state’s development and wellbeing of the people,” he added.-Bernama
