PETALING JAYA: A two-month-old baby died on an AirAsia flight from Kuala Lumpur to Perth today. According to an AirAsia spokesman, the baby died after a “medical emergency” on flight D7236.

He said the flight crew had called ahead for help and were met by a team of doctors upon arrival in Perth at 5.30am.

“Upon arrival, the aircraft was met by a team of medical emergency specialists and the relevant authorities, including the West Australian Police.

“We are unable to comment further on the infants’ medical situation, however our thoughts are with the infant and family involved,“ he told theSun via an email.

He added that AirAsia will assist and rebook guests who have onward connections from Kuala Lumpur this afternoon.

“The safety and well-being of our guests is always our number one priority, and in accordance with procedure, the flight crew requested medical assistance on landing at Perth International Airport.

“As a result of the incident, AirAsia’s Perth-Kuala Lumpur flight D7237 which was scheduled to depart this morning at 6.50am has been delayed,“ said the spokesman.
