SHAH ALAM: The suspect arrested over the fatal road rage incident at Bandar Baru Bangi will be charged tomorrow.

Selangor deputy police chief DCP Datuk Ab Rashid Ab Wahab said the suspect will be charged at the Kajang magistrate’s court with murder.

“The deputy public prosecutor has agreed to charge the suspect. We expect to charge him under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder,” he told reporters at the Shah Alam district police headquarters today.

Ab Rashid on Monday said that the police completed their investigation into the fatal road rage incident that took place at Km239 of the North-South Expressway’s south-bound lane near Bandar Baru Bangi on Aug 10, and the investigation papers were sent to the deputy public prosecutor (DPP) for further action.

During the incident, the two drivers became involved in a car chase and a scuffle ensued between them near Bandar Baru Bangi.

Several passersby at the scene broke up the fight and the two drivers returned to their vehicles.

Police said the 29-year-old man then got out of his vehicle with a baseball bat and smashed the other car’s bonnet; the older driver then lurched his vehicle forward and hit the victim.

The man was pinned between the car and the road divider. He was then rushed to the Nilai Medical Centre but died while receiving treatment.

Both husband and wife who were in the vehicle were initially remanded for seven days until Aug 17. The wife was released but the husband had his remand order extended to Aug 22.
