Bersatu to act against any errant member over drug case: Mahathir

SERENDAH: Bersatu today warned of action against any member of the party who has broken the law if they were among the 17 people arrested yesterday in a drug case, said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (pix).

The prime minister and Bersatu chairman said, however, the party will have to get the details of the case before taking action.

“We will wait for the information before we decide what to do. No one is above the law. It does not matter who you are. Even if I break the law, I go to jail,” he said after a visit to Dhaya Maju Infrastructure (Asia) Sdn Berhad here.

Earlier today, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said 17 people were arrested at a condominium in Jalan Puchong, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday, many of them for having tested positive for drugs.

Dr Mahathir was responding to the media when queried about the arrest of a Bersatu state assemblyman, which was confirmed by Selangor Bersatu chairman Datuk Abdul Rashid Ansari earlier today.

The assemblyman’s arrest went viral on social media today. - Bernama
