PETALING JAYA: The whole of Peninsular Malaysia, except for Perlis, Pahang and Kelantan will be placed under a Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) from Nov 9 until Dec 6.
Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pix), speaking at his daily press conference today, said the decision was made following a meeting with the Health Ministry (MOH) with regards to the rise in Covid-19 cases.
Ismail Sabri said the standard operating procedures (SOPs) will remain the same for the next four weeks.
“There will be no travelling across districts and those with emergency cases must get the prior approval of the police. For workers who need to travel, they will have to produce their employer’s letter or work passes.”
Ismail Sabri also added that only two people from a household are allowed to got out to buy provisions.
The extension of the CMCO comes on the back of the highest number of new Covid-19 cases in the country reported on Friday (1,755).
Worryingly, out of this total, all but three cases were local transmissions.
The authorities are expected to beef up enforcement for interstate travelling, especially with the Deepavali celebrations looming next week.
