Cops bust syndicate, seize drugs worth RM447,320

GEORGE TOWN: Penang police busted a drug-processing laboratory and seized drugs worth RM447,320 with the arrest of two men in separate raids in Bukit Tengah, Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) recently.

State deputy police chief Datuk Abdul Aziz Abdul Majid said police raided a house used as a mini heroine processing laboratory in Bukit Tengah on July 30 and arrested a 47-year-old man, as a result of surveillance and intelligence by the Penang Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (JSJN) team since a month ago.

“During the raid, the police seized 2,210 grams (g) of heroine, caffeine (2,763 g), syabu (660 g), 20 Erimin 5 pills, all worth RM47,320, along with various drug paraphernalia,“ he told a press conference here today.

He said following the raid, police raided another house in Bukit Tengah last Saturday and arrested a 35-year-old man and seized 10 packages of syabu drugs weighing 10,357g worth RM400,000.

“The syabu drug found has been processed and packed in Chinese tea packages to deceive the authorities and we are currently tracking down several more members of the syndicate for further investigation,“ he said.

He said following the arrest of the two men, the police seized a car and cash worth RM3,300 adding that more properties would be seized soon.

He said the first man was charged in court last Monday under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 while his accomplice is currently remanded until Aug 14. -Bernama
