Cops hold prime suspect in temple riot case

PETALING JAYA: A prime suspect in the attack on the Sri Maha Mariamman Devasthanam Seafield Hindu temple in USJ 25 in the early hours of Nov 26 was arrested in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.

Selangor police CID chief SAC Fadzil Ahmat said the suspect is being remanded for further investigations.

The man, who is in his 30s, is the 107th suspect to be held by police since the attack.

He is the sole suspect in custody as the others who were detained had been freed on bail.

Fadzil said 19 people involved in the brawl had been charged in court and more are expected to face similar charges.

Meanwhile, the condition of Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, the fireman who was severely injured in the temple riot has deteriorated and is back on respiratory support.

Adib also continues to require dialysis as his renal function has not improved.
