KUALA LUMPUR: Some of the country’s top leaders have conveyed their condolences over the passing of the 28th ruler of Kelantan, Sultan Ismail Petra early yesterday morning.

The messages were shared through their respective Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali via his Twitter account, prayed that Almarhum (Sultan Ismail Petra) to receive husnul khatimah and his soul be blessed by Allah.

“My heartfelt condolences to Sultan Muhammad V and the people of Kelantan over the passing of Sultan Ismail Petra Ibni Al-Marhum Al-Sultan Yahya Petra. May Almarhum receive husnul khatimah and his soul be blessed by Allah,” he wrote.

Sultan Ismail Petra, the father of the Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, died at the age 69 at the Royal Ward of the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital, Kota Bharu at 8.11am yesterday morning.

The sad news was announced by Kelantan Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob in Kota Darul Naim, Kota Baru.

Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu also conveyed his condolences.

“Innalillahiwainnailaihirojiun. My deepest condolences over the demise of Almarhum Sultan Ismail Petra ibni Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra this morning. May his soul be blessed and placed among the pious. Al-Fatihah,” wrote Mohamad.

Meanwhile, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng shared a Twitter post from Bernama on the news of the demise.

“My deepest condolences over the demise of Sultan Ismail Petra this morning. May his soul be blessed,” Lim said.

Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail also expressed his condolences.

“Al Fatihah. My deepest condolences on Sultan Ismail Petra Ibni Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra’s passing. May his soul be blessed,” he said.

Among the Cabinet ministers who conveyed condolences to the family of the late Sultan Ismail Petra was Water, Land and Natural Resources Minister Dr Xavier Jayakumar.

“I express my sincere condolences to Sultan Muhammad V, his family, members of the royal family and the people of Kelantan over the demise of Sultan Ismail Petra Ibni Almarhum Sultan Yahya Petra,” he said.

Heartfelt sorrow and condolences were also expressed from other leaders including Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad, Port Dickson MP Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil.

“Innalillahiwainnailaihirojiun. My deepest condolences to Sultan Muhammad V, his family, members of the royal family and the people of Kelantan over the demise of Sultan Ismail Petra. May his soul be blessed and placed among the believers,” wrote Anwar, who is also PKR president. - Bernama
