PETALING JAYA: A couple was charged in the magistrate’s court here today with the murder of a Bangladeshi man at an apartment in Bandar Sunway here, earlier this month.
Ahmad Najmi Naim Ahmad Jeffrey and his girlfriend, Intan Farah Nur Ain Muhamad Zawawi, both 21, nodded after the charge was read out to them before magistrate Nor Ariffin Hisham.
However, no plea was recorded.
The couple, together with three others still at large, was charged with murdering the Bangladeshi man, known as Jamal, at Pangsapuri Mentari Court, Bandar Sunway here, between Dec 6 and 7 this year.
The charge, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, provides the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
The court set Jan 25 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Alia Sumayyah Amran prosecuted, while Ahmad Najmi and Intan Farah Nur Ain were unrepresented. — Bernama
