Covid-19: One death, 95 new cases

PETALING JAYA: Ninety-five new Covid-19 cases were reported today, bringing the total number of active cases in the nation to 754.

Meanwhile, one more death was reported today, bringing the death toll to 129.

Health director-general Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah said 91 of today’s cases were local transmissions, while the remaining four were imported.

“Of the local transmissions, 90 were in Sabah. They consisted of 76 (20 foreigners) belonging to the Fort Lahad Datu cluster, four (one foreigner) from the Pulau cluster, and another three from the Selamat cluster.

“Three (one foreigner) more cases were detected among patients of Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI), while a further two were cases who developed Covid-19 symptoms and were admitted to Tawau Hospital.

“One more was the case who died today (case 10,145). He was a foreignor who was admitted to Semporna Hospital.

“Another case was a close contact of case 10,145,” he said in a statement today.

There was also one other local transmission in Negri Sembilan, belonging to the Bunga cluster.

The remaining four cases reported today were imported, consisting of one Chinese ship crewman in Sabah, and three illegal immigrants in Selangor.

The latest report brings the total number of infections detected in the country to 10,147.

Meanwhile, 14 cases had recovered and were discharged today. This brings the total number of patients to have recovered to 9,264, amounting to 91.3% of the total cases.

He also said that 11 cases were currently in intensive care units, with two needing ventilator assistance.
