Covid-19: Only 1 positive case today

PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry today recorded only one new Covid-19 case, bringing the total tally of cases to 9,002.

The case was a local transmission detected in Perlis, said Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement yesterday.

The last time a single digit case was reported was on July 1.

The case was detected through a screening for those who have Severe Acute Respiratory Infection, he said, adding there are currently 193 active cases being treated at health facilities.

The total number of recoveries stands at 8,684, he said.

On a similar note, he denied the ministry had ordered parents and students who went for a vacation in Kubang Pasu, Kedah, to undergo Covid-19 screening at the nearest health clinic.

“The ministry has never issued any official directive. This is false,“ he said.

He advised that the individuals who needed to undergo screening were those who had close contact with Covid-19 patients, or living in areas under the targeted enhanced movement control order, or those linked to the persons under investigation (PUI) Sivagangga cluster.
