Covid-19: Three deaths, 1,168 new cases

PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry reported another 1,168 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the number of total positive cases in the country to 39,357 cases.

The active number of Covid-19 cases now stands at 11,666.

Three deaths were also recorded, taking the total death count to 282.

“All three fatalities came from Sabah, involving two women aged 51 and 62 and a 55-year-old man,” Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (pix) said in a press conference today.

The deceased had history of high blood pressure, diabetes, dyslipidemia and stroke.

Sabah continued to post the highest number of cases (616), followed by Selangor (247), Labuan (104), Negri Sembilan (68), Perak (37), Kuala Lumpur (28), Sarawak (25), Penang (18), Kedah (15), Johor (five), Terengganu (three) and Malacca (two).

There are 87 cases being treated at the intensive care units, with 32 requiring respiratory aid.

Noor Hisham added there were a further 1,029 recoveries, bringing the total tally of recoveries so far to 27,409.

Sabah led the recoveries with 780, followed by Labuan (83), Negri Sembilan (50), Selangor (41), Penang (30), Perak (10), Kedah (10), six each in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Johor & Terengganu, Sarawak (five) and Pahang (two).

Noor Hisham said another four clusters were detected today.

They were the Softwood LD cluster in Sabah with 11 new cases, Teratai cluster in Selangor which recorded 58 new cases, the Damanlela cluster in Kuala Lumpur (13 new cases) and Mahkota cluster which involves districts in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Sarawak.

This cluster saw an additional one new case.
