KUALA LUMPUR: The government will offer one-off digital incentives worth RM30 to all Malaysians over 18 years old with an annual income of less than RM100,000.

This is to accelerate the transformation towards increasing the use of e-wallets in the community and traders, especially small and retail enterprises to accept digital payments, said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng

He said all that is required is for one to have a registered e-wallet with a verified identity through a selected service provider.

“This one-off digital stimulation per person can be redeemed and used for a two-month period beginning Jan 1, 2020 and ending Feb 29, 2020. The government will allocate up to RM450 million to Khazanah Nasional to implement this incentive that will benefit 15 million Malaysians,“ he said in his Budget speech at Parliament today.

Besides that, he said the Pakatan Harapan government acknowledges the high potential of E-sports and has increased allocation to RM20 million for the year 2020.

“The government will wish all the best to the Malaysian team and to win many gold medals in the SEA games in Manila in December 2019,“ he said.
