KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal does not want other quarters blamed for the party candidate’s defeat in the Kimanis parliamentary by-election.

He said Warisan took the responsibility of contesting in the Kimanis parliamentary by-election and to campaign there.

“We were contesting, don’t blame the other parties. We accept the fact because it was the decision taken by the people,’’ he told a press conference after witnessing the signing of a collaboration note by the Department of Human Resources with the University of Kuala Lumpur and Petra Energy Berhad, here today.

In the Kimanis parliamentary constituency by-election on Saturday, Warisan’s candidate Datuk Karim Bujang lost to the Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Mohamad Alamin.

Mohd Shafie said Warisan accepted the decision made by the people in Kimanis and would continue to serve the parliamentary constituency as promised.

“Warisan and its allies (Pertubuhan Kinabalu Progresif Bersatu and Pakatan Harapan) thank the voters (in Kimanis) who have given strong support to Warisan which secured over 10,000 votes.

“In addition, I would like to express our commitment to serve not only the Kimanis Parliamentary constituency but also the whole of Sabah regardless of race and ethnicity,“ said Mohd Shafie. - Bernama
