KUALA LUMPUR: The Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia (DPMM) and the Malay Economic Action Council (MTEM) have proposed several additional measures to be included in the comprehensive stimulus package aimed at aiding Malaysians affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.
“At a time when manufacturers from China are facing difficulties in delivering goods worldwide over the next six months, now is the right time for Malaysian companies to fill the vacuum in the market,” they said.
The statement said the government should postpone legal action against small enterprises and avoid issuing them termination of service letters or declaring them bankrupt for six months.
It also urged the government to give cash handouts to some four million households, noting that the Cost of Living (BSH) aid to B40 households has been inadequate.
DPMM and MTEM also called for special incentives to be given to petty traders, and for pasar tani and pasar malam traders to be allowed to resume their business operations. - Bernama
