MALACCA: The number of flood evacuees in Malacca has dropped to 525 people from 121 families at 8.30 am today, from 643 people (126 families) last night.

Malacca Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) director Lt Col (PA) Effendy Ali said the remaining evacuees comprised 402 people in the Alor Gajah district and 123 people in the Malacca Tengah district.

The evacuees in Alor Gajah are at the relief centres at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Belimbing Dalam (274 people), Balai Raya Kampung Beringin (74 people) and 27 people each at SK Lesung Batu and Durian Tunggal State Coordinating Committee building (Japerun), he said in a statement today.

Effendy, who is also Malacca Disaster management Committee Secretariat chief , said the remaining 123 evacuees were at Balai Raya Kampung Tanah Merah, Krubong, in Malacca Tengah. — Bernama
