SIBU: A drug addict who stabbed a rehab assistant at the Cure and Care Service Centre (CCSC) Sibu on Sunday was arrested by Samalaju Park auxiliary police at 1pm today.

District police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the 18-year-old suspect from Miri was arrested by two auxiliary policemen while passing through the main gate on a motorcycle without a registration number.

Upon inspection, a small knife was found inside the motorcycle basket and the victim’s wallet containing personal documents and cards in the suspect’s pocket, he said.

Police also seized a bunch of keys and a Honda Wave motorcycle.

“The suspect admitted running away from the centre in Jalan Ulu Lanang and using the victim’s motorcycle to Bintulu. He was brought to the Tanjong Kidurong police station for further action,” Stanley told Bernama.

In the 8.18pm incident on Sunday, Juing Anak Garai, 38, was taking a rest alone in the living room when the suspect came and stab him on the chest with a knife.

Stanley said the victim is being treated at Sibu Hospital and is in stable condition. - Bernama
