Ex-RMN lieutenant commander claims trial to cheating

KUALA LUMPUR: A former Royal Malaysian Navy lieutenant commander today pleaded not guilty in the sessions court to cheating a woman in a smartphone supply contract valued at RM236,000 last year.

Mohd Zaidi Mohd Bishan, 34, was charged with cheating Maizatul Nurain Mohamad, 24, by deceiving her into thinking that he could offer the supply contract for the RMN headquarters.

He was accused of inducing Maizatul Nurain to hand over 80 units of Samsung Note 9 smartphones worth RM236,000 in front of the Wardieburn camp, Jalan Genting Kelang, Setapak, here between Feb 28 and March 8, last year.

Judge Hasbullah Adam set bail at RM20,000 with one surety and fixed Feb 27 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Siti Nur Hajar Hamzah appeared for the prosecution while Mohd Zaidi was unrepresented. - Bernama
