PETALING JAYA: A fireman that was critically injured during the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple fracas, was not attacked, said the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple taskforce.
The taskforce secretary, V. K. Regu told a press conference today that three videos circulating in social media showed that fireman, Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim was hit by a fire engine that was reversing.
“If you see the video, it shows the fireman being hit by the fire engine as it reversed and he was thrown against a fire rescue van that was behind the fire engine.
“The video also shows that the crowd did not hit the fireman, but actually tried to alert the fire engine to stop and brought the injured fireman to the hospital,“ he claimed.
Regu urged the police to investigate what actually had taken place in the case of the fireman, adding that he has submitted the videos to the authorities.
Muhammad Adib was admitted at the intensive care unit of the Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare on Tuesday and was transferred to IJN at midnight yesterday.
“His condition is stable but he is still in a critical state,” Datuk Dr Mohd Nazeri Nordin, IJN consultant cardiothoracic surgeon and head of ECMO Services, said in a statement issued by the IJN corporate communications department.
The statement said IJN doctors deployed a life-support machine called Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) at 1.30 am.
“The procedure was completed around 2.30 am. The machine will provide both circulatory and gas exchange support for him due to his serious chest injuries,” it said.
