PETALING JAYA: Amid all of the anxieties triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic, one thing Malaysians should not have to worry about is the lack of food supplies.

Based on the inspection conducted on 27 hypermarkets, Senior Minister (Defence) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob assured the public that the food supplies are adequate for all.

“There is really no need to do panic buying as based on the report presented by the committee, we guaranteed that food are adequate according to products but not brand,“ he said.

Ismail continued by clarifying his assurance on the product availability by giving rice supply as an example.

“For example, those who prefer Brand A rice, but when they check it , it is not available at the market. This meant that that this specific brand only that is not available at the moment but there are other rice products with different brands,“ he told a press conference after the Special Minister’s Meeting on the movement control order (MCO) in Putrajaya today.

“So there is no issue for food scarcity as there are other brands that are available for the products you seek,“ he added.
