SHAH ALAM: The government is prepared to conduct a survey on the maritime border of Malaysia and Singapore to see if it is true that Malaysian ships are intruding into the waters of the republic, said Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

‘’We can do a survey to determine whether they are right or wrong. Their line is not correct, we are still in our own waters,’’ he said briefly when approached by reporters after launching the 21st Congress of the Union of Pos Malaysia Uniformed Staff (UPUS) here today.

He was commenting on a report that Singapore had protested against the altered port limits of Johor Bharu, regarding it as an intrusion of the waters of the republic.

Singapore’s Transport Ministry claimed that ships and vessels from Malaysia have been repeatedly intruding into Singapore’s territorial waters off Tuas over the past two weeks, including vessels from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and Marine Department Malaysia. — Bernama
