GPS hopes national political issue will be resolved soon

KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) fully supports the constitutional monarchy system, and hopes that the current political issue in the country is resolved soon as Malaysians struggle with the Covid-19 pandemic.

GPS secretary-general, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi(pix), said that political stability is very much needed as the country faces the current pandemic.

“We need to focus on the success of the National Recovery Plan for the well-being and health of the people, as well as economic recovery,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

Yesterday, Istana Negara had issued a statement, stating that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had expressed utmost disappointment over the government statement related to the revocation of the Emergency Ordinances in Parliament, as the matter had not been consented to by His Majesty.

Al-Sultan Abdullah stressed that the statement by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law), Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, in Parliament on July 26, is inaccurate, and has misled the members of the Dewan Rakyat. -Bernama
