Great start to the year for four with RM53.2m Sports Toto jackpot wins

PETALING JAYA: The first Sports Toto draw for 2021 was a great start to the year for three cousins from Johor and a winner from Sabah. They won two jackpots totalling RM53.2 million on Jan 2.

The trio, who won the RM48.4 million Supreme Toto 6/58 jackpot, told Sports Toto that it has been their habit to share the bets.

“We would come out with different combinations of numbers and I as the first cousin would buy the tickets.

“This time, we had decided to bet on our age and birth dates to be our winning set of numbers – 19, 20, 29, 47, 50 & 52,” said the 51-year-old first cousin, who is a housewife.

The second cousin, who is a 47-year-old businessman, said he did not believe at first when his first cousin told him about the great news.

“I could not believe it and I had sleepless nights just thinking about how to spend the winnings,” he said.

The third cousin, who is a 41-year-old businessman, said they planned to just save the winnings for a rainy day since the pandemic is still at a worrying stage.

The trio spent only RM6 for three advance draws (RM2 per draw) to walk away with a whopping RM48,374,249.60.

The Sabahan, who won the RM4.8 million Toto 4D Jackpot 1 on the same day, said her pair of winning numbers was from her identity card and phone numbers – 5220 & 0703.

“It was the first draw of the year so I wanted to try my luck and I did it!” she told Sports Toto when collecting her winnings.

The 40-year-old winner, who is a civil servant, said she has not planned on how to use the winnings but she would donate part of it to charitable organisations.

She spent RM30 on a System 6 ticket to win the RM4,783,708.00 jackpot and an additional RM1,344.

Two days before Christmas last year, a pair of identical winning numbers made 20 lucky winners richer on Dec 23, 2020 when they shared the RM10.9 million Toto 4D Jackpot 1.

The identical set of winning numbers - 6860 (First Prize) and 6068 (Second Prize) saw six winners walking away with RM1.6 million each and another 14 winners who bought the i-System tickets sharing the remaining balance of RM1.3 million.

A total of 3 winners from Sarawak, 1 from Sabah, Kuala Lumpur and Johor shared RM1,598,262.05 each.
