KUALA LUMPUR: As of 8am today, only one location in the country, Johan Setia in Klang, Selangor, recorded a very unhealthy air quality level.
According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (Apims), the air pollutant index (API) there was 213 compared to 197 (unhealthy) yesterday evening.
Meanwhile, in Sri Aman, Sarawak, the API index dropped from yesterday, and is now at 134 (unhealthy) compared to 203 (very unhealthy) previously.
This morning, 40 areas recorded an unhealthy API level compared to 44 yesterday, namely Langkawi (106), Minden (110) and Balik Pulau (141) in Penang; Taiping (111), Tasek Ipoh (156), Pegoh, Ipoh (133) and Seri Manjung (173), Perak; Batu Muda (140) and Cheras (155) here, as well as Putrajaya (175).
Also showing an unhealthy API level were Kuala Selangor (185), Petaling Jaya (165), Shah Alam (171) Klang (158), Banting (149) in Selangor; Seremban (159), Port Dickson (145) in Negri Sembilan; Alor Gajah (134), Bukit Rambai (138) and Malacca Town (133); Segamat (154), Batu Pahat (117), Kluang (111), Larkin (125), Pasir Gudang (114), Pengerang (105), Kota Tinggi (105) and Tangkak (128) in Johor.
In Pahang, unhealthy API readings were recorded in Temerloh (137), Jerantut (114), Indera Mahkota (159) and Balok Baru (155); while API readings of the same category were seen in Kemaman (158), Paka (135) and Kuala Terengganu (129) in Terengganu, as well as Tanah Merah (112) and Kota Baru (105) in Kelantan.
In Putrajaya, all 25 schools which were closed on Sept 19 and 20 (Thursday and Friday) due to the haze have resumed operations.
In Perak, two of five flights scheduled at the Sultan Azlan Shah Airport (LTSAS) here were cancelled due to the haze.
An API reading of between 0 and 50 is categorised as good, 51-100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and above 300 (hazardous). — Bernama
