KUALA LUMPUR: Schools in areas affected by the haze may postpone the Form Three Assessment (PT3) Listening Test for Malay Language, English and Al-Lughah Al-Arabiah Al-Muasirah until Oct 31.

Education Ministry in a statement yesterday said schools in districts or areas that were recording the air pollutant index (API) readings of more than 200 could postpone the test.

However, the test, which scheduled for three days beginning today, would still proceed in districts or areas that are not affected by the haze with strict monitoring by the State Education Department (JPN), District Education Office (PPD) and schools.

“Based on continuous monitoring nationwide, as at 5pm on Sunday, most areas in peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak recorded unhealthy and very unhealthy API readings.

“The ministry understands the difficulties faced by schools, students and parents due to the haze,“ said the statement.

It said JPN, PPD and school administrators had been informed on the steps to be taken in conducting the test including monitoring the API reading released from time to time by the authorities. — Bernama
