KUALA LUMPUR: Gobind Singh Deo said today he will not bow to pressure and resign as the Communications and Multimedia Minister following an online petition calling on him to step down.

Gobind said he took note of the matter but stressed that it is his responsibility to resolve any public complaint and grievance of the people on the broadband service provided by Telekom Malaysia (TM).

“I will not stop speaking up for the people in this country; I will not stop doing my duty as a minister.

“My duty is to question, to try to improve things, to try to find a way by which we can improve all those matters. This is what we are trying to do,“ he said to reporters at the Parliament lobby.

Gobind was responding to a reported online petition started by an anonymous “Concerned CITIZEN” demanding that he step down over his alleged censure of TM for its high subscription prices and poor consumer satisfaction, as well as being biased in resolving TM’s issues. — Bernama
