JOHOR BARU: Johor Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman Mazlan Bujang yesterday lodged a police report denying allegations that he had threatened a government officer and demanded that factories sealed due to the recent Pasir Gudang pollution incidents be allowed to resume operations.
Mazlan, who is Puteri Wangsa state assemblyman, said he lodged the report at the Bandar Dato Onn police station at 5.30pm so that police would investigate the matter.
“As has been viralled on Facebook, it is my voice (recording of telephone call to officer) but there was no mention of I instructing them to allow the reopening of illegal factories. Clearly it is about me trying to help affected small-time entrepreneurs in Kampung Pasir Putih.” he told reporters after lodging the report.
Mazlan said he was doing his job as an assemblyman to help entrepreneurs like car wash operators and workshops which were shut down by the authorities because of incidents of pollution.
“In the recording, I was talking and joking with someone I have known for more than 20 years, and I did not sound threatening at all,” he said.
There was a Facebook post featuring a purported police report alleging that Mazlan had threatened a government officer, demanding that sealed factories in Pasir Gudang be allowed to operate again. — Bernama
