ALOR SETAR: A non-governmental organisation (NGO), known as Kindness Malaysia, has set up a ‘Kindness Kitchen Cafe’, offering free food for the poor for the breaking of fast.
Its chairman, Mohd Azrul Mohd Razak said the poor and needy, as well as the homeless, orphans and persons with disabilities (PwD), are welcome to the cafe, which is located at Jalan Sultanah, here.
“For this Ramadan, we only operate on Saturday from 7pm to 9pm due to shortage ,” he told Bernama here.
He said the cafe, which was launched last Tuesday, was set up following a survey which found that the poor, especially those with large families, had never or rarely eat out.
“Now, they can eat out by coming to the Kindness Kitchen Cafe. They can eat for free,” he said, adding that some 25 volunteers will work in rotation at the cafe.
He welcomes volunteers to help with projects carried out by Kindness Malaysia (Kedah) and those interested can call 016-7074798, while those keen to contribute or sponsor the breaking of fast meal during Ramadan can do so by banking in money to their Maybank account at 5520-9523-6240 (Kindness Malaysia). -Bernama
