Lahad Datu police bust syndicate selling, purchasing oil palm fertiliser

LAHAD DATU: District police busted a syndicate buying and selling oil palm fertiliser illegally involving RM656,852.56.

Lahad Datu district police chief ACP Nasri Mansor said police raided an illegal warehouse at Batu 4, Jalan Lahad Datu-Sandakan near here at about 10pm on Monday night and arrested seven men, aged between 17 and 38 years, who were unloading the fertiliser from two trailers.

“The two trailer drivers were supposed to send the load to Keningau, but stopped at the warehouse to sell 1,200 sacks of fertiliser estimated to weigh 60 tonnes.

“The raid on the warehouse found 2,450 sacks worth RM171,500,” he told a press conference, here today.

Nasri said police seized 60,245 tonnes of fertiliser and the trailers for investigation under Section 407 of the Penal Code.

He added that the all the suspects had no previous criminal records and police were tracking down the mastermind of the syndicate who was believed to be the owner of the warehouse. - Bernama
