MALACCA: The Planetarium Building at the Malacca International Trade Centre (MITC), Ayer Keroh will be upgraded into a Malacca Tourism One Stop Centre starting from the middle of this month.

State Tourism, Heritage and Tourism Committee chairman, Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis said the RM300 million upgrading work is expected to be completed by December.

He said a three-storey building would be built while only the structure at the terminal and the dome would be retained in the upgrading exercise which would result in the rebranding of the Planetarium Building into the ‘Science and Galaxy World Malacca’.

‘’We have received permission to plan. When it is later completed, it will become the Malacca tourism portfolio building, namely, all related tourism agencies are moved there including Tourism Promotion Division (BPP), Malacca River and Beach Development Corporation (PPSPM) and Malacca Heritage.

‘’Its construction is similar to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia and would also provide facilities for tourists to buy accommodation, transportation, product and food vouchers in the state,’’ he said.

He was met by reporters after promoting Visit Malaysia 2020 (VM2020) at the Malacca International Airport (LTAM) in Batu Berendam, here today. — Bernama
