BEAUFORT: A man died when the tractor he was driving skidded and overturned into a drain in an incident at Kampung Luagan here yesterday.
Beaufort District Police Chief DSP Azmir Abdul Razak said in the incident at 3.40pm, the victim, Abdul Hamid Rajja, 59, who was crushed by the tractor was confirmed dead at the location due to severe injuries to the head.
“Early investigations at the scene found that the victim was clearing the oil palm fruits at the plantation with the tractor.
“When he arrived at the location, when the victim crossed a small drain, the tractor he was driving suddenly went out of control, skidded and overturned before he was crushed by it,” he said in a statement here today.
He added that initial investigations found the accident had been caused by the victim’s own negligence when he failed to control the movements of the machine, causing the accident.
“The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said. — Bernama
