KUALA LUMPUR: A 31-year-old man drowned after he was believed to have fallen into a river while fishing at Sungai Batu, Taman Wilayah in Selayang here today.

Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department director Nordin Fauzi said a team from the Jinjang Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 3.29 pm.

“At the scene, the medical team confirmed that the man was dead,” he said when contacted.

He said that based on information gathered, the victim was believed to have fallen into the river while fishing and his body was pulled to the river bank by members of the public.

He added that the body had been handed over to the police for further action. — Bernama
