KUALA LUMPUR: The man injured in a shootout with police in front of a condominium in Jalan Genting Klang here last night has criminal records for drug and robbery cases.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said the suspect is also wanted for an assault case under Section 324 of the Penal Code.

Elaborating on the shootout yesterday, he said policemen had stopped a Proton Iswara with three men inside at about 8.30pm.

Police seized a 9mm semi-automatic HK USP pistol and 35 rounds of ammunition from the injured suspect.

“The suspect’s two friends escaped and police have launched a hunt for them. The injured suspect was taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment,” he said.
