KANGAR: Kangar Police have arrested a student from a college in Perlis for using profane language at policemen making a public announcement of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Kangar district police chief Supt Wari Kiew said an 11-second video, which the student had recorded and shared via WhatsApp, showed the police patrol unit making the announcement in Kuala Perlis on Thursday and it went viral after being uploaded on the same day.

“The 17-year-old suspect was then arrested at about 5am yesterday at his home in Kampung Teluk Batu 5 for abusing officers on duty,” he told a press conference today.

However, the suspect was released on police bail on the same day.

Meanwhile, a 28-year-old mechanic was detained at Km 3, Jalan Kuala Perlis-Changloon at 9pm yesterday when police found several swords as well as a knife and a fake pistol after searching his vehicle.

The suspect, who also had four previous cases, has been remanded for seven days beginning yesterday and all evidences, including the car, have been seized for further investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 36 (1) of the Arms Act 1960, Section 7 (1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958 and Regulation 11 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the local Infected Areas) Regulation 2020. - Bernama
