MD Farid’s death big loss to Bersatu, Pakatan Harapan

PONTIAN: The death of Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Dr Md Farid Md Rafik (pix) is a big loss to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), Pakatan Harapan and the ministry.

Dr Md Farid, who was Tanjung Piai MP, died at about 6am yesterday at the Pontian Hospital, believed due to a heart attack. He was 42.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad extended condolences to the bereaved family.

“... (Dr Md Farid was) still young. My deepest condolences to the family,“ said Dr Mahathir, who is also Bersatu chairman, in a sombre tone when met by reporters at Masjid Jamek Datuk Hj Noh Gadut here.

Also present were Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal, Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir and Bersatu secretary-general Datuk Marzuki Yahya.

Dr Md Farid is survived by wife, Datin Farah Syazwani Hanis Ismail and three daughters. - Bernama
