Media club condemns death threat against journalist

KOTA BARU: A media club in Kelantan has strongly condemned the death threat made against a Berita Harian journalist over a published expose.

Kelab Media Kelantan Darul Naim (Kemudi) said it is an uncivilised act which should not have happened as there is room for a response to the expose.

Kemudi president Azran Fitri Rahim said Kemudi urged the authorities to conduct an investigation and take immediate action against the culprit.

“The matter should not be ignored. Stern action must be taken against the perpetrator to provide a lesson for everyone,” he said in a statement.

Berita Harian has confirmed that one of its journalists received the threat through an e-mail last Sunday after the Malay-language newspaper published the expose.

Azran said he hoped that the death threat will not stop journalists from producing revealing reports. — Bernama
