BUTTERWORTH: A Myanmar national ship crew is feared drowned after falling into the sea near Pantai Bersih here today.

Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) operations officer Redzuan Saidin said the department received information on the incident at about 1pm today before a team of firemen and a fire engine rushed to the location.

Upon arriving at the incident location, they were told a ship crew member known as Lim Lin Tun was believed to have fallen into the sea,“ he said here today.

He said the department had launched a search and rescue operation for the missing Myanmar man around the sea where ship was anchored.

MEANWHILE in BENTONG, an Orang Asli boy was feared drowned after slipping into Perting Dam while fishing today.

Pahang Fire and Rescue Department deputy director Mohd Sani Harul said the victim Usop Mat Arip, eight, was reported to have fallen in the dam at about 4.30pm.

He said a search and rescue operation (SAR) was launched with the assistance of a Water Rescue Team from Temerloh Fire Station. — Bernama
