KUALA LUMPUR: A new travel trade show will be held on June 25-27 next year. The Malaysia Tourism and Travel Mart 2020 (MTTM) is expected to host more than 200 international exhibitors from over 45 countries.

MTTM is expected to attract 4,000 tourism and travel trade industry operators as well as 8,000 public visitors. It will be open to trade visitors on the first two days and to the public on the third day at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec).

Mitec CEO Gunther Beissel said the exhibition would have a significant impact on Visit Malaysia Year 2020 and contribute to the country’s tourism receipts.

“MTTM will not only enhance Malaysia’s competitiveness on the global stage but also facilitate more cohesive private-public sector efforts to deliver more international and tourism events into the country,“ Beissel said on Tuesday night.

Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) CEO Datuk Zulkifli Sharif CEO said the MTTM would showcase products and services of 300 exhibitors comprising 40% international, 40% Asia and 20% Malaysia booths, bringing an estimated economic impact of RM25.1 million to the country.

“Staging the MTTM not only provides business opportunities to buyers and sellers but it is also a great platform to promote and sell Malaysia’s unique tourism attractions through attractive packages offered by Malaysian sellers.” he said.

Zulkifli added that the staging of the MTTM is in line with the Malaysia Business Events Roadmap initiative which aims to add value to the economy and create more jobs and employment in the country.

“The promotional activities for MTTM acts as a catalyst to the Visit Malaysia Year 2020 campaign, while the exhibition itself complements the campaign’s objectives and establishes Malaysia as a preferred global business events destination,“ he said.
