JOHOR BAHRU: The Johor police will not hand over the list of names of officers and personnel found to be in cahoots with the Nicky Gang, to the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS).
Instead, Johor police chief Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay (pix) said they would be brought to court for their involvement in organised crime activities.
He also did not rule out the possibility of the involvement of more police personnel in the organised crime syndicate believed to be led by fugitive businessman, Datuk Seri Nicky Liow Soon Hee.
Ayob said 24 enforcement personnel had been previously detained under Op Benteng and charged in court for their involvement in organised crimes.
“This is the format that we will use for Datuk Seri Nicky’s case. We are still updating the investigation paper, insya Allah, once it is completed, we will arrest them.
“I want to take action for the organised crime offences they committed which, for me, is the best way,” he told reporters at the Johor police contingent headquarters, here, today.
Yesterday, Bukit Aman JIPS director Datuk Zamri Yahya was reported as saying that the department is in the midst of obtaining the names of police personnel allegedly involved in colluding with the Nicky Gang.
In a separate development, Ayob Khan said from January until now, a total of 78 police personnel had been slapped with disciplinary actions, of whom eight were dismissed from the service.
During the same period, he said a total of 30 investigation papers, involving corruption, drugs, criminal and commercial offences were also opened.
Ayob Khan said last year, a total of 92 personnel faced disciplinary action for various different types of misconduct. - Bernama
