NIOSH denies chairman’s contract not renewed

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has denied a report in a news portal that the contract of its chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye (pix) has not been renewed.

In a statement yesterday, NIOSH clarified that no statement or decision was made by the institute or the Ministry of Human Resources regarding Lee’s contract.

“The statement in the news is not true,” it said.

Yesterday, the news portal published a report speculating on Lee’s position at the institute which alleged he was forced to leave NIOSH, before his contract expired on Sept 20. — Bernama
