PETALING JAYA: There will be no hindrance to print media operations, which includes distributing and selling of newspapers to the public.

A viral message has been making its rounds on social media, particularly Whatsapp, which quoted a senior police officer as saying that the distribution and sale of newspapers are not listed as essential services.

“However, to ensure that the public do still receive official information via print media, the Inspector-General of Police has agreed for the activity of distribution and sale of newspapers to continue, provided that there is compliance to hygiene like wearing of face masks and social distancing,“ the message read.

When contacted, the police officer verified the message, but said it is intended for internal communications with police personnel only and not for the media to publicise it.
