NSC messages said to be ‘pointless’ (Updated)

KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat was told today that the daily text messages by the National Security Council (NSC) to Malaysians are deemed as pointless.

Hannah Yeoh (PH-Segambut) said it would be better to send useful information on the know-how during this pandemic.

Yeoh highlighted that it is such a waste of the rakyat’s money for NSC to send fruitless text messages including information on the food basket programme as well as the known advice as mentioned by the Health Ministry (MoH) previously to not have any plans to visit family members.

“I hope the SMS messages platform will be used to send informative text instead of sending rhetoric SMS which I feel is like nagging. My question is, how much money is being spent for these daily broadcast texts?” she said during a press conference at the Dewan Rakyat’s media room today.

“Use this platform effectively and wisely by educating family members on what to do if they test positive for Covid-19, how to do Covid Assessment Centre (CAC) assessment online which is not being broadcast,“ she said.
