KUALA LUMPUR: The International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) has stressed that only industries or factories that have received its approval are allowed to operate during the two-week Movement Control Order (MCO) period ending March 31.
MITI issued a list of frequently asked questions related to MCO which noted that factories producing essential products such as basic food items, agriculture products, household goods and pharmaceutical products are allowed to operate.
Apart from these, factories involved in oil and gas, petrochemicals, and electrical and electronics can also be given a waiver to operate.
“Companies must apply for a special approval to continue operating their factories during the MCO by filling in a form that can be downloaded from www.miti.gov.my and submitting it back to covid19sec@miti.gov.my.
“Approved companies will receive an approval letter from Miti to operate, subject to the conditions stated,” the ministry said.
Miti said in a situation whereby factories need to continue operating their machinery and equipment for technical reasons, they can do so with minimal technical supervision.
Companies can also apply for a certificate of origin (COO) at Menara Miti from 9am to 1pm. Any further queries regarding COO can be emailed to allofficerskpi@miti.gov.my.
Applying for a preferential certificate of origin (PCO) under the free trade agreements can be done as per usual through the ePCO system (http://newepco.dagangnet.com/dnex/login/).
