GEORGE TOWN: PKR vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin (pix) believes that controversial preacher Dr Zakir Naik is being used as a political tool by the opposition to split the country along racial and religious lines.
“If one examines what Zakir has been uttering, it is likely he was exploited by the opposition who took full advantage by feeding him with wrong information about Malaysian society.
“But I also acknowledge that Zakir was out of control with his statements. He broke our trust and at the same time he was manipulated and exploited by the opposition,“ said Zuraida during a press conference after attending a public forum on local government elections in Komtar here today.
Meanwhile, Zuraida said that PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who has just returned from Makkah, should be allowed to rest first before he comments on the party’s stance on Zakir.
