KUANTAN: The Pahang state government practices an open-door policy to welcome investors to invest in the state, said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail (pix).
He said this was based on the principle that the investment would benefit the state, people as well as the investors.
For example, Wan Rosdy cited the recent Pahang trade mission to Singapore last month, which was led by him, that ended with a successful investment of RM1.134 billion in the forms of direct investments and joint-ventures.
“One of the investments was about RM100 million from I.B.N Corporation Private Limited which intends to build a water treatment plant and supply treated water to various industrial and residential areas here.
“Such investments are highly welcomed as I was informed of the lack of water supply in the high land area in the state.
“This is because the utility provider could not provide the demand for about 28.2 million litres per day,” he said in his speech when opening the Swiss-Garden Hotel & Residences Genting Highlands here today.

Elaborating, Wan Rosdy said the investments would certainly help to complete the task of Genting Utilities and Services Sdn Bhd as the sole water supplier so far, in ensuring that consumers had sufficient treated water supply.
“’The water problem can get worse if left untreated, as I was also made to understand that the entire Genting Highlands needs at least 72 million litres of treated water daily for the next ten years,
“Therefore, the plan concerned can ease the anxiety among investors here, with regard to the supply of smooth and effective treated water in the state,“ he said.
In another development, Wan Rosdy is confident that the newest and 11th property owned by OSK Holdings Berhad will attract more tourists to Pahang, as Genting Highlands is a popular tourist destination.
Pahang recorded the highest number with 9.2 million tourists last year. — Bernama
